It's (x^3+11x^2 + 34x + 24) / (x+1) = x^2 + 10x + 24

x^2 + 10x + 24
x+1 \x^3 + 11x^2 + 34x + 24
-(x^3 + x^2)
10x^2 + 34x
-(10x^2 + 10x)
24x + 24
-(24x+24)
0

so x^2 + 10x + 24 is the floor area

You have to divide the volume by the height.

(x+1) into (x^3 + 11x^2 + 34x + 24) is

x^2 + 10x + 24

So that's the area of the floor

(x^3 + 11x^2 + 34x + 24)/x+1.

You have to do either long division or synthetic division by dividing the long polynomial by x + 1.

It's hard to write the steps here. Your solution will be
x^2 + 10x + 24. This represents the other two dimensions of the room.

x^2+10x+24

The premise does not make sense. A volume is (in this case) measured in cubic feet, but you have square and linear feet in your premise. If the problem is exactly as stated, then the question cannot be answered.
