Payless carries up to size 12, some 13, but not a big selection. There's usually one store in an area that carries the biggest selection of large sizes--go to your local Payless and ask.

The best brick and mortar store is probably Nordstrom http://shop.nordstrom.com . They kind of specialize in weird sizes. If you have a Nordstrom Rack (their closeout store) near you you can find good stuff pretty cheap, but it's just luck what they have at any time.

There are lots of places to order from online, but I avoid that when I can because sizes are inconsistent--I want to be able to try things on. If you want to try that, they're easy to find with searches. One to check out is http://www.shoetrader.com

Here is an About.com article about large size online stores http://shoes.about.com/od/womens/a/large.htm . Zappos is mentioned there, which is another good choice.

What size do you need? 11's are everywhere, 12's are still manageable. It's when you're a 13 like me that you really have problems. Oh, and here's a tip--Dress Barn Woman is a good source for large size socks. Not sure why, but they have 'em and they fit me!

I'm not sure what kind of sizes you need but Dillards is trying to get more "extended sizes" in stock. I wear an 11, sometimes a 12. Frederick's of Hollywood generally goes up to a size 13 in womens. They aren't the most comfortable things, being as I've never seen anything less than a 2'' heel there, but if you're looking for dress shoes or something to strip in, it works. Occassionally if you go to places like Gabriel Brothers or TJ Maxx, they might have a few pairs of 11 or 12. Gabes generally has a better selection. Kohls also has some shoes in size 11. I hope this helps, I know the pain, literally, of trying to find a comfortable shoe that fits.

I know a store called The Shoe Dept. has a better selection of sizes 12~17 then most stores in my area. Thats for men though. For chicks, target seems to have more 9 & up then the other stores around.

Torid goes up to 11 or 12 i think, but you can usualy find size 11 at DSW as well. My friend who is a size 11 mostly buys her shoes online.
