Chimps are frequently eaten by man, and it is thought that some very serious diseases of man including Ebola could have begun by eating Chimpanzee flesh. In Africa, Chimps are often eaten by leopards, lions, crocodiles, African Rock pythons, wild dogs, hyaenas (opportunistic feeders...they eat what is available), jackals, and a few other predators (Cheetahs and Servals normally are not in the same habitat). However, chimpanzees are very wary and the older animals are seldom captured by predators because they travel in family groups, climb well and very aware of their surroundings. Most of the animals that are eaten are young animals that have escaped their mothers and stray. Chimps are very much like man in many ways and eat a very wide variety of foods including various birds, eggs, lizards as well as fruits and in captivity enjoy cottage cheese, yoghurt, ice cream and enjoy watching TV. But there is a curious difference. Young chimps are instinctively afraid of snakes but human children are not (people have to learn a fear of snakes from others). Chimps rarely bathe in nature so they seldom are victims of crocodiles but with the leopard's climbing skills and speed, they are probably the greatest predator. Another problem facing chimps are diseases spread from humans such as TB and respiratory infections.

Permaculture Bella has nailed this one. Check out and compare chimpanzee and human dentistry, digestive systems and diseases. Locamotion is another key issue that Bella touched on when hunting prey. Lions eat meat, it makes about as much sense to compare human nutrition with chimps or lions as it does with comparing humans nutrition with plants. E.g. Arabidopsis thaliana genes (a weed) are extremely similar or identical to human genes linked to certain illnesses. So what is the next argument, we are like plants so why should we eat plants?
