hurting the alternator? How will I know? Does the "nest material" from the mice have to come out of the alternator? This alternator has air vents, and thus the mice got into it. It's running fine so far, but this is a nice car, and I want to make sure.

i own a repair shop, and yes it will hurt it,you need to get it cleaned out ,otherwise it may just stop working on it,to get rid of the mice you need to put some moth balls in it,they hate the smell of moth balls and wont build a nest near where they can smell them.,put them anywhere you can to drive them away, good luck i hope this help,s.

If the vehicle sits idle for a long time mice will make a nest anywhere they can .If they can not get to a good food source to fill their belly's they will start to eat insulation off your wiring to compensate and eat each other too.the alternator should be cleaned out .I know of people putting metal screen material over the openings to keep out the nesting. They also climb into exhaust pipes .I know that first hand I fired up my 1979 cx500 HONDA v-twin and blew a nest and scooby (mouse)across my driveway out my tail pipes ! They get into places so small you cant believe it possible .

is this a serious question? it's an '04 corvette...why aren't you driving it more often? Yea, you def. need to get the mice nests out of there, powerwash it or get them out yourself if they haven't already made permanent settlements everywhere. you might even take the car out and run the motor hard, that would probably scare them off, plus you'd dump them on the road and never see them again.

Well anytime an animal gets into somewhere like that it could do a lot of damage. My suggestion is to get them out fast and find a way to keep them out. That nesting meterial could get any where under that hood and start messing things up. Kinda like a cat under the hood only not that big

Put poison out to kill them and inspect your whole engine compartment. The rodents LOVE wiring insulation and will even chew the copper wires into.

So, YES, they will hurt the alternator, the wiring, insulation and any other item they can find to knaw on or make a bed out of. Do what you gotta do FAST. Good luck. Pops

No. The insurance company just don't feel the need to pay for your neglect in keeping the car free of vermin. And the rest of us premium payers don't really want to subsidize you either.

I counted 4 times...but it IS a vette.

I would use a blast of compressed air on those critters not water.
