Ok! Let me rephrase and say who here only does the right thing when being observed.

When I "preach" about right and wrong I use myself as an example. I'm not perfect, I do things I shouldn't do and that's also a part of my "preaching". I do the right thing because I believe in it not because someone is watching, and I fall into temptation and do the wrong thing no matter how many sees it.

That's not a fair question. We all do things we know we shouldn't, by eating the wrong things or not getting enough exercise. We know what we should do, yet we don't do it, and the things we shouldn't do, we do anyway. That doesn't stop us from "preaching" to others about what we know is right. We tell our kids not to swear, drink or smoke, and we tell our friends they should exercise more. The irony, of course, is that no one listens to us, as we didn't listen to others. But what is this "When no one is looking?" What does that have to do with anything?
If you have a problem with people doing something they shouldn't, then say so. Preach it, brother.
That was facetious. But just because we fail doesn't mean we give up trying, and neither should we give up on each other...even if they don't listen.

I try to practice what I preach. I use this site to get the word out on things that I know or have learned and to help others. So everything I say here is what I truly believe. I am older and so I feel I might have something to offer like insight. I hope that lookers will take it or leave it. Everyone has the choice to believe or not believe.

Often I do not, I admit. However, I recently stopped drinking alcohol (four months ago today), and as part of quitting it, I have been forced to confront and assess my own personal value system. As part of my recovery, I strive to be true to this, and I believe that in the past four months, I have acted more in line with my values than ever before. There's a lot of work to be done (natch), but I can truthfully say that I have improved.

it has to do with integrity and accountablitity. One is firstly accountable to oneself, even when no one else is around. You've got integrity when you can, by grace and grace alone, be honest and truthful to yourself. For in the end, you have to face the person in the glass, looking back at you. If that person condemns you, how can anyone else's praise matter to you? It is not easy, but God enables you to be honsest and truthful, even unto yourself!
