A nice leather folder/organizer. They have them at office depot and other stores like that.

For the love of God, don't get him anything related to apples. I'm an elementary school teacher, and I can't stand them (although I do think it's cute when a student brings in a real one on the first day of school). I can't imagine a Latin teacher being impressed with an apple-themed anything.

Something practical is the best gift for any man. How about a pen with an engraved message in Latin? A book you really enjoy that he might too? A gift card to a book store? Men tend to not like cutesy things.

PS- I think it's great that you want to get him a gift because you think highly of him. It's students like you who make it all worth while. :)

I think you need to avoid getting him something personal. That might send the wrong message. Most teachers get too much teacher stuff. I think a gift certificate to someplace such as a restaurant, book store, teacher supply store, office supply store, movie certificates. Get a nice card and I agree with "Harold" that you need to have your parents sign it also. That will let him know that you are not trying to get any kind of favors and that your parents are aware of what you did. That will probably set his mind at ease about accepting the gift.

I don't think I would get him something personal.(he may get the wrong idea) I would get him a plaque with an inspirational saying on it written in Latin. Something like the Irish Blessing. Also, include how grateful you are for a teacher dedicated to actually care enough to make learning enjoyable.

Get him a gift certificate to a Latin Restaurant or even just his favorite candy! Teachers appreciate any little gift from students showing they appreciate what we do!

Why not get him a gift certificate? Put in inside a birthday card with a short note explaining that you are NOT seeking any favoritism....just wanted to acknowledge his birthday and thank him for being a great teacher.

Growing up my mom used to always buy us boxes of Belgian chocolates for our teachers. I agree with the gift cert idea, and also the idea of just a card. He wont be expecting anything, so the gesture and thought would probably blow him away, especially letting him know what a great teacher he is

he does not need anything in regard to a teacher...he probably has a lot of these...go for gift certificate where he can pick the item he wants...

The best thing you can give him is a card expressing your feelings about him as a person and as an educator. As an educator myself, it feels great when my effort is recognized by my students. That saves you about $27. If you want to spend the rest than just go by him something to go along with the card.

An engraved pen, something he can keep. Gifts from students mean so much to teachers. You're lovely.

A gift card to a book store or restaurant. I've had both from my students and enjoyed them very much.
