I am looking for a simple quiz to take where you enter information indicating your stance on each issue and how strongly you feel, and then have the quiz match your results with the candidate(s) who share the same views.

That would make voting so much easier. Everytime I think I find a candidate I like, I find out that he or she opposes something I am for or supports something I am against.

John16, I am not a single issue voter. In fact, I have a problem with single issue voters. They are the ones who vote straight ticket republican or democrat because of silly issues like pro-life and gay marraige. It's not a wise idea to vote in a bunch of evil because you cannot cope with the thought of two men marrying each other.

I guess my problem is that I feel left on some issues and right on others. I am conservative with issues like small government (no systems and institutions to make people dependent on the government for everything), loose gun laws (no need to disarm the general public; criminals dont care about gun laws anyway), and regulated immigration (no need to teach our new neighbors to have a disregard for the law). And I am liberal on issues like abortion, gay rights, and separation of church and state.

Grow up.

You will always find with ANYONE that you don't agree on everything.

You have to weigh candidate A with candidate B and then decide.

Don't be a single issue voter.

I heard tonight in a news story that there is an organization that sends a survey to each candidate and tabulates the results. This wouldn't help you get an electronic response to the question, "Who agrees with me most?" But it would make useful information available to you.

However, and this is important, the point of the story was to tell us that MOST candidates are no longer willing to respond to the survey, because the result would be that their opponents would use the information to create negative ads. (Whatever you're in favor of, there is some way for your opponents to spin it, so that most people will think they disagree with you.)

Bottom line:
There probably isn't such a site, partly because candidates don't want to be nailed down.

Sudden thought (tongue in cheek):
Would politicians be willing to complete the survey after they leave office and don't have to worry about attack ads? Then you could figure out who USED TO be closest to your opinion.

John is right (although he said it in a VERY rude way)... you will never find that "perfect candidate" that agrees with you on every issue.

I have never heard of any sort of quiz like the one you are looking for. It would be nice though....

I recommend you go to each candidate's website and look at what their platform is. Any major candidate will have a section explaining their position on a wide variety of issues.
