The Black Parade is a concept album by My Chemical Romance
the concept is that gerard way feels death comes to you however you want, and in the album the main character called "The Patient" dies tragically young from cancer. death comes to him as a parade because his strongest memory from childhood is of his father taking him to a parade in the city (the song "Welcome To The Black Parade")
and throught the whole album the character figures himself out and analyezes his life.
MCR had said that "Black Parade" is the bands alter-ego, and when they perform, they perform as the Black Parade instead of My Chemical Romance.

The Black Parade is the name of the new My Chemical Romance album. Far as I know, they made it up, Gerard Way (singer of M.C.R.) said that he thinks death comes from you in the form of something you loved or enjoyed during life, so the album about a fictional dying cancer patient, the title basically tells that the person dying loved parades as a child and when he dies, death comes to him in the form of a Black Parade. My Chemical Romance's new album is called The Black Parade
the first single of the album is called Welcome to the Black Parade.
And they are also using The Black Parade as a kind of second band name, whereas they are still called My Chemical Romance, but they also go by The Black Parade now.

the guy that died in the song remembers going to a parade with his dad..so when he dies his way of ''moving on'' is the black parade..it's also the title of their new cd and their other band name..i phrased it a bit differently than gerard did in the interview on Fuse..
