After I stopped taking the pill, at 22, it took a good year. Only to find out I had an Hydatidiform Mole, ( for those who don't know what that is, Placenta no baby. Apparently 1 in 10000 pregnancy end in that way)

After another 18 months and some fertility drugs, such as clomid, I wouldn't recommend that on my worse enemy, it sent me loopy. But we also started the road for artificial insemination. That didn't work either. But a couple of months after that, we found out we were pregnant again, only to end with another mole, a partial this time.

We were told to wait at least 6-12 months before we tried again. At the 6 month mark, the stick had the little line again. We both feared the worst, but that was not the case, everything was normal this time. 9 months later, and a 29yrs old, our son was born at 9lb 5oz.

After he was about 18 months, we decided to go through all that again. Thinking that it could take awhile again, but surprise surprise, after the first try, our second child was on the way. 9 months later, at 32yrs old, our second son was born at 10lb 4oz.

I wish the best of luck, and hope you don't go through anything like we have endured.

Took seven years with baby #1, including 2 years of intense fertility treatment. My husband had to have surgery, I took fertility pills, etc. but it finally worked. Then when baby #1 was 14 months old we decided we had better start trying again if we wanted them to be three or fours year apart but surprise! Got pregnant the very first time we tried! So whatever they fixed, it worked! Talk to your dr., get all the info you can, find a support group if possible, and stay positive! Good luck to you.

I think the answer is really all over the map. I was 21 when I tried for my first, it took 3 mths, I was 22 when I tried for my second it took, the VERY FIRST TRY, and I was 25 when I tried for my third, it took 7mths. I am now trying for my 4th, and have been trying casually for a year, and am now in the first month of trying where we are paying attention to the dates, ovulation etc,

But there you have one person, young healthy, no fertility issues, and a conception time range of 1mth-8mths up to a year! Go figure!

with #1 we tried for a few days before day #14 of my cycle and a few days after and we were successful.
with #2 we made only one attempt and that was on day #14 and we were successful.
For both cycles on my first 2 babies I had my periods every 28 days. After giving birth to baby #2 my cycles got shorter and I tracked them on a calendar for a few years and a few months before we decided to try for #3 I started charting my fertility signs and ovulation. I read several books on this also. So with #3 we tried just one time also and I knew I was ovulating that day and am pregnant with #3.
Chart as much info as you can and you may start to see patterns. I heard that book "taking charge of your fertility" is a great book to read. good luck

We my husband and I got pregnant as soon as we stopped our bitrh control. Within 2 weeks of not taking a pill we were pregnant. They say your secrections are still thick and the male forming sprem travels faster in thick secretions, but we are having a girl. And I'm 24. Hope that helps.
