Do the police officers who are features in the show get money?
What about the criminals? Should't they get a portion of the profits too?

It is illegal for a criminal to profit off of a crime he/she's commited. Criminals in prison, who have movies made about them, don't get a dime. It's against the law because if it were legal then you could just go on a killing spree and sell the rights for a book or movie and become rich. So it's against the law so people won't do this. :-)

The producers of COPS make all the money. The cops aren't paid anything because they're just doing their everyday jobs and are already paid by the citizens of their town, so any money made would be in the form of a donation to the police department that would benifit the department, thus benifitting the community who do pay their salaries.... hope this info is useful :-)

Well I think that no one gets a profit. Most of the criminals that are on there just are glad someone is giving them the time of day to have them on the television screen and the cops are showing how couragous they really are. BAD BOYS BAD BOYS WHAT YA GONNA DO WHAT YA GONNA DO WHEN THEY COME FOR YOU.
