One of the appealing things about Magic: The Gathering is that adults can play just as well as kids can. I have a group of (adult) friends that get together every week to play.

No. Though I will say that anyone with 2 grades worth of reading and math could learn it easily. Magic is targeted towards boys ages 13 and over. It hits the nail pretty close to the head most of the time. I've met young players before but they're pretty rare. The average age of a Magic player is 21. Duel Masters, which is made by the same company as Magic, is basically a kid's version of Magic. It combines the resource system of Magic with the anime-like pictures of Yu-Gi-Oh.

Depends on what you mean by kids game. Do kids play it? Yes. I've seen some players as young as 8. I've also seen plenty of older players. Due to the expense of the game, the prime players are high school and college age boys with disposable income and time to hone thier skills. However, any tournament of significant size will have plenty of 30+ players.
The game is a bit complex for the younger players, although most of the rules are straightforward, interactions between certain rules and certain cards can get tricky.

No, I know a lot of people of all ages that play it. It is expensive, so there are a lot of teens and early 20's people with disposable income that play.
