IT'S NOT POSSIBLE TO HAVE A BLOCK AND A STEAL ON THE SAME PLAY.

It would be a block because the player was in the act of shooting. A steal comes from intercepting a pass or taking the ball away from the dribbler, but catching a shot would be a block.

To my understanding it is ruled as a block, and then a rebound because you recovered a missed shot.

this is a block. but you have to be careful not to get a goaltending called. this is when the ball has reached its peak and is coming down. its ok to touch the ball in anyway while its goin up, but not coming down.
