why do women have the type of men that want to lay around the house and smoke "whatever" and not work and then complain about the lack of good (employed/independant) men?

Many Women want to be the motherly type, they want to see if they can change the man into something they may never be. Its a challenge, kind of like trying to get some one to like you, even though they may not even notice you. the problem with it is it only draggs the woman down, and she gets caught up in the web and doesnt know how to get out of it, they feel they are to far into the relationship to back out and risk hurting someone or themselves in the process, It takes a strong will and believing in yourself to get out and do what you truly want for yourself.

i think they feel that is all that they can get. because if the man was actually worth something he would not be single. so these women are lonely and they get what they can and they just take care of them because its nice to feel needed, although you really dont want to be his mom taking care of him.
Ladies you can get whatever man you want, have confidence, chase you dreams, be realistic, dont quit, rearranges you dreams/goals if need be. DONT settle always aspire for more.

you know, this needs to be addressed to the ladies. I can name two o my family members off the top of my head who do that. Why? Their obviously stupid A** Holes that feel like they need to have someone in their lives, so they settle for anything. They love too much.

and how many youngsters are killed via defective or risky toys? Or stupid mothers that enable their youngsters play with plastic bags? you're making it sound like all adult males who date single mothers are hill-billy trailer trash baby molesters or something.

answer is pretty simple: maternal instinct, laziness, and fear of the unknown. women love to take care of people, lazy to go out and find someone even though they know they want to, and fear of what might happen, fear that maybe this bad dude was it.
