its not so much of it being a horible song as much as the downfall of jefferson airplaine. Jefferson Airplaine was such an influential band in the 60s and 70s and were in the San Fransico Height Ashbury scence. And to go from this acid heavy meaningful music to doing a second rate pop song makes it all the worse. Plus the song sucks

It's the song that brought the mid 80's music to a head, making the way for more 'mature' sounding 'hair metal' bands...lol But if you compare it to Starship's other hits, when they were Jefferson Airplane, then Jefferson Starship, respectively, 'We Built This City' just doesn't stand up to 'White Rabbit' or '(Don't You Want) Somebody To Love. It killed the 'big boom' production techniques of the time, which was a good thing. Comparably, Steve Miller Band had many classic hits (jet airliner, Fly Like An Eagle, The Joker) then came out with his 'jump-the-shark' song ABRACADABRA, which was/is crapage!

Plain and simple sucks, if you compare to the music they made in the 60's and 70's absolutely horrible.

i don't love that song, but it is not a bad song. I think it is fun to sing to once and awhile. A lot of the older music is, some people just like what they hear on the radio. theyre taste level is not so deep. Just keep listening to what u like, the classics never die, but bands like panic at the disco won't last or be remembered.

It's a GREAT song! and a classic! It's fashionable not to like anything done in the 80s...right now. That'll change in a week or so!
