he has refused to file taxes for the last 17 years because he knows they will be taken. what other options are available to collect back support. The man is a dead beat, only works when court is supervising him, there has to be a way to collect this money whether it be in property or another way

Have you gone through the state attorney generals office?? Sadly no you cant seize his vehicle. That's private property and even though he maybe a dead beat dad the courts wont give you his vehicle. Call the IRS perhaps and give them his ssn # and address tell them he hasn't filed taxes in 17years maybe there will be a tip reward. Never know , wouldn't hurt to try , right?? But if you go through the attorney generals office and charges are filed he can go to 1: prison. failure to pay child support 2: forfeit all taxes returns till debt is paid 3: lien put on his house, if sold you'd get your money first 4: a seizure of a % of his pay check .. big hunk.. or last but not least he actually start paying the support with interest till its paid, if he goes that route you can have him jailed if he misses a payment

No, but that is a great idea! haha.... Child support laws vary from state to state, but in most places you can file a petition with the court to garnish his wages or seize any tax refund that he might get from the IRS.

I don't know, is the vehicle comfortable enough for you to recline on.
Just kidding.

Why would you want to take his car away ? If you do he can't get back and forth to work and make money for child support.

You need to go to court to have his wages "garnished" meaning the employer will take the child support out before he ever gets his check.
