I think that minimum wage should be raised because stocks and commodities steadily climb. I hate to see hard working people(of all races) work two jobs and can barely afford a one bedroom apartment. They tell you to get higher education and that's good, but everyone can't be a doctor,lawyer,scientist...etc... Takes all kind to make the world. Now, I'm not saying that everyone should have a $100,000 yearly income, I'm just saying that the average/typical working person should live more comfortable.
Raising minimum wage would put a dent in America's crime rate also.

Here is a link I think would help:

The united nation's Universal Declaration of Human Rights gives everyone the right to article 25. Under it you are entitled to "...a standard of living adequate..." etc.
Also John Kenneth Galbraith economist and presidential advisor wrote many economics books that didnt accept that leaving citizens the one thing that they needed to maintain dignity and that was money. In his book A Journey Through Economic Time he dismissed the attitude that direct subsidys to people was the best way to raise the poor out of poverty.

Both the authors referred to are Canadian. John Peters Humphrey was the principal drafter of the 1948 document the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
