What is the age of the baby? Some develop a 'favorite' but in general babies take whatever is given to them - new or familiar. Especially if the color, shape(s), textures, etc. are stimulating. Mine often found the box as fascinating as the toy.
After all, they (hopefully) don't get new Mom or Dad, and still like the same old ones!

They love to be able to cuddle things like a familiar bear. But also love to play with something new. My son loved new toys until he had discovered all they could do. Then he would move on to something else. But he never got tired of his bears. He would keep them close by until he was done with the new toy and then him and his bear would move onto something new. We are always upgrading toys to keep him active and learning.

Babies like noise & colors. They don't have a favorite toy.
The older the child, the more attached they become to a toy.
