Depends on the situation. If the circumstances are right, then yes. For example, if there is a building on fire and I am the only one nearby I would more than likely try to run up and save who I could. Hopefully I wouldn't die though.
Now that I read some others answers I would like to add how heartless, selfish and self centered people can be.

In my daydreaming, perhaps. In real life, I doubt I would have the courage.
Possibly in an instinctive reactin, if I didn't have time to think about it.
We never really know what we would do in a given situation until it actualy happens.
