Traditionally we watch , ...
A Christmas Carol... with the kid wanting a red rider BB gun
Frosty the Snowman
Rudolph, the old classic ones from the '50's
Charlie Brown Christmas
It's a Wonderful Life
Baby New year, (not sure if this is a Rudolph one, but it has the Island of Misfit toys... )
The Grinch, both cartoon and the Jim Carey one
National Lampoons Christmas Vacation
... and I (like you watching Serendipity), always watch the Nutcracker Ballet....

All of these movies come on in December in the U.S.A.. or you can rent, purchase them. My family looks forward to sitting and watching them each year. I realize it's the first Christmas, but these are great to have in your collection for future years.

I start watching all of my Christmas faves around this time of year.
1 - White Christmas
2 - The Santa Claus-e
3 - How the Grinch Stole Christmas
4 - Little Women (I know it's not a Christmas movie, but it's got a lot of Christmas, snow and winter scenes in it along with some BIG warm and fuzzies)
5 - A Mom for Christmas (an absecure Olivia Newton John film where she's a mannequin that comes to life and becomes a little girls' Mom for her Christmas wish)
6 - Christmas with the Kranks (Tim Allen is the KING of Christmas films!)
7 - Elf (cause that's just FUNNY as hell!)
8 - The Home Alone series (first 2 were good)
9 - Scrooged
10 - It's a Wonderful Life
11 - Miracle on 34th Street (either version is pretty good)
12 - Love Actually (cause it's funny and romantic and Hugh Grant does that funny dance in 10 Downing Street)
13 - Polar Express
14 Let's not forget the animted classics! (Frosty the Snowman, Rudolf the Red Nosed Reindeer, How The Grinch Stole Christmas, Jack Frost, The Little Drummer Boy, Santa Claus is Coming to Town, and A Charlie Brown Christmas, just to name a few!)

Either way, I'm going home tonight and starting to watch!!!!!

Here's my favorite Christmas movies.

1. A Christmas Story. Even after watching it hundreds of times, it's still hysterically funny, and appropriate for the entire family.

2. A Christmas Carol (1951 version with Alistair Sim) - total classic. Watching Sim play Scrooge throughout the movie is sooo satifying, you actually believe the transformation he makes.

3. Anything done by Rankin-Bass, although I'd have to say that I'm partial to their version of "Twas the Night Before Christmas," the one with the little mouse family and the clockmaker's family. I also particularly liked "Nestor the Long-Eared Christmas Donkey," but I haven't seen it in years!

You said it's your daughter's first Christmas this year, but you haven't said how old she is. If she is getting to the age where she's starting to pay attention to the TV a little bit, I'd recommend you try to find Barney's Christmas Star, Blue's Big Holiday, and Elmo Saves Christmas. They are all really great for younger kids, even if they drive Mom and Dad a little nuts!

When I first saw the question, I would have replied "A Christmas Story" about Ralphie and his bb gun.

But, since we're talking a baby, I like the Charlie Brown Christmas and Grinch and Rudolph. They aren't films but I haven't seen the newest cartoon Christmas movies.
