The first two are links to help you identify your spider by checking pictures and features -

http://www.xs4all.nl/~ednieuw/Spiders/Famdraw/Locchart.htm

This next link is to a "Crab Spider" (Misumena vatia - flower spider). The pictures only show light colored versions but the description indicates that males are indeed reddish to reddish-brown, so I thought you might want to look at the spider's body structure.

Hope this helps!

Crab spiders (Selenopidae) 1.5-10 mm, (1/16-3/8 in) long; 8 eyes, small and well separated, arranged in 2 rows. Crab spiders hold their legs out to their sides, like crabs. They can walk fowards, backwards, or sideways. They are often found on flowers.

No true spiders have claws or anything really resembling claws. Perhaps it was some spider relative like a scorpion, pseudoscorpion, or sun spider.

SPIDER! WHERE? Kill it! Kill it! KILL IT!

Seriously, it doesn't sound very nice, so don't touch it.
Go to http://whatsthatbug.com . Describe it to them or jst look up other examples of the same description. They helped me when i found a golden ladybug.
