I'm a 14-year-old who wants a khaki jacket from Abercrombie & Fitch for $200.
There are two reasons I want this jacket:
1) I need a jacket because it's getting cold outside.
2) Just because it's labeled Abercrombie & Fitch
Does this make me shallow?

Also...how can I make $200 quick?
I'm not going to even attempt to ask my mom :<

What is something you want that might make you feel shallow?

Wait a few weeks, they usually go on sale for way less!

Well, it's not that shallow per se. A lot of people have things/brand-names that they want. Like me, =P

For the $200, offer to babysit, tutor, do housework, or beg it as a Christmas gift.

Good luck with it ^^

Yes, that's ridiculous. $200 is a stupid price for a jacket, ESPECIALLY one from A&F. I've been through their store enough times to realize that all their selling is a brand, not quality. You'll probably still be cold. It is incredibly shallow to want something just because of a name. Now, if it was just a t-shirt of jeans or something, I wouldn't even consider spending a lot. But since this is an item that actually is supposed to serve the function of keeping you warm, I'd would go for name brand like Columbia or LL Bean just because they actually make things according to quality. A cheaper version (like Walmart) wouldn't be made as rugged and high of quality. On the other hand, LL Bean or Columbia is somewhat cheaper than A&F, but you get more for your money because it will actually serve the right purpose.

Whoa whoa wait....I just realized you said a KHAKI jacket. Why the heck would you spend $200 for that? It's not going to do much to keep you warm. I'd spend like....$50 max on a light jacket like that. Who CARES if it's from Abercrombie & Fitch? It;s just a name! It's not going to send the statement "I'm cool", instead it's going to say "I'm the doofus who spent $200 for a name."

You're 14 years old. Save your money for more important things (like a future car, apartment, or college), or at least instead of buying one outrageously expensive thing, buy a bunch of smaller things. Sheesh. The most expensive clothes item I ever bought was...$100 for some serious winter boots from Cabelas (outdoor outfitter) that are wicked insulated and rated for -135 below. I prefer to buy clothes that are functional and practical.

But....if you still want the silly thing, earn the $200 yourself. You might realize that it's not worth it. Or you spend the $200 and then later on wish you'd saved it.

well, even though i hate abercrombie and fitch, if you like it and it's cold outside, get it. It doesn't make you shallow i guess. Oh, and if you want $200, get a job. Usually, schools provide job permits. If you can't, ask your mom for a little bit of it, then find a way to make the rest.

I can only tell you what other kids have done.
Tell their parents they really want this jacket, and that they are willing to earn the money for it. 'Yes, it is cold and I need a jacket, I just don't NEED this one. I want it.'
When you learn how to earn $200 really fast legally, share it with the rest of the world so that we can all get out of debt.

Also, it does not make you shallow, it makes you a teenager. But teen that I know have said that if they have to spend lots of money on clothes to be cool, they are never cool to begin with.

Good luck.

No, would not make you shallow, just normal. Temporary help is posted everywhere nowadays. If you wanna spend $200 on a jacket, it is your decision only if you work for it.

not neccesarily shallow, perhaps more materialistic. Theres a saying that goes " if you cant afford it, you dont need it" , if its cold out then you can settle for something more in your price range. I dont see how a 14 year old is going to make $200 quickly.

yeah cuz you probably won't stay warm in that jacket.... I don't worry about things that would make me look shallow.... I have to work to pay rent and bills so I buy what is affordable and will last.
