It gives drunken Irishmen (a redundancy I know) a day when they can be proud to puke in the street and pick fights with half the people that walk by. To wit, a day to celebrate normal Irish American living.

You are a funny person!! I love St. Pat's Day!! I'm not even Irish, but I can drink like one! Even got a tatoo for the occasion. We have an Irish fest in Sept. here, so it is like St. Pat's day here 2 times a yr. Not enought though! So, do you like being alone in the forum?

well everybodys opioion for why they like st patty's is different, mine is
-all day i have an excuse to talk with a fake irish accent and say
"top o' the morn' to ya" or something like that
-i have an excuse to wear green eye shadow, which flatter me
-in school you get to pinch people who arent wearing green
-the teachers are un-usually giddy and give less homework
-some people do or attempt to do a jig or an irish dance and it's entertaining
-march is the only time I buy lucky charms cereal, to celebrate st patty's
- *cough* achohol *cough*
even if your not irish you can still have alot of fun. im not irish, but i dont miss out on anything if you dont count not being able to wear "kiss me im irish" shirts

Gives us boozers a free pass from the Alcoholics Anonymous meetings 1 day out of the year.. if you're Irish, (like me), you get to be publicly drunk without getting arrested..

'Cos the Irish know how to party. Also, I love to say, "Erin go bragh-less".
Finally, I learned that when someone says, "top of the mornin' to ya' ", the correct response is, "and the rest of the day to you". Nice. (like cream and milk, eh)

Aussieblonde is right!! What other holiday do you set your alarm for 5 a.m. so you can be the first in line to drink?? None that I can think of!! Being married to an Irishman makes it fun too!
