We're at war with Afghanistan. No, wait - Iraq. Or is it Iran? What about North Korea? Venezuela?

The point is, it's not important WHO we're at war with - it's only important that the military-industrial complex running our country gets its $$$ (at taxpayer expense). And that means more of the same - WAR.

On Sept 11, 2001 a group of Radical Muslims under the guideance of Osama Bin Lauden attacked the USA. This group of Radicals declared war on the USA that day. What makes this war so different from others we have fought is that we are not fighting an Army. We are fighting basically a Religious Cult with groups world wide. Maybe this will help: Radicals are like cancer that is attempting to destroy the world as we know it. Now if we treat cancer Sometimes we can defeat it Not always. As it stands currently every time we remove it from one area it simply pops up someplace else. I can't tell you how this will turn out. I only Hope we Win if that can even be achieved. I hate the world like it is but I believe we'd All hate it alot more if Radicals controled this world.

After 911 it was determined that Osama was in Afghanistan. So we sent troops there. Though 18 out of 20 of those terrorist are from Saudi Arabia, we have no beef with them.
After the fervor from 911, all this evidence was produced that Iraq presented a clear and present threat to the US. So we sent troops there. Since then, all the evidence has been proven false. Why are we still there? I don't know. But now that we are still there, we have pissed off all these people and all these nations. There will be a never ending growth of new terrorist just aching to blow something up. Thanks GW.

It is a confusing situation - it's not as simple as US vs. Nazi Germany. Our involvement in the Middle East goes back before World War 2 (for example, we were allies with Iran for decades, until the 1970's), but to sum it up, we are fighting "jihadists", who are intent on creating an extremist Islamic state.

We are not at war with anybody. You have identified that the phrase "at war with" actually means nothing. It is abstract. We, as citizens, do not even support the notion of "our" troops killing anyone, let alone going out and throwing grenades personally. Yet our leaders constantly remind us that we are "at war". Read Gearge Orwell's "1984", if you haven't already!

In short and to stop beating around the bush(no pun)

We are at war with the world of Islam. The Islamic world wants to keep the west out and to push the liberal freedoms away form them selves. They are willing to kill and be killed for the Glory of there God.

They do it because they Hate.
They hate you and me for our choice in a god or no god.
They hate because of how we let women dress
They hate because of your and my skin color.
They wish to kill us because we still breath air on their world

so far in Oct

Attacks: 242

Dead Bodies: 1304

Critically Injured: 1790

In the surface, we are at war to try to elimiate (or at least suppress) terrorist activity in the middle east. We are at war with terrorists and insurgents in Iraq.

Because the terriost bombed NY in the United States of America. The Iraq's hate us. And they are the main people we are fighting. I bet you this question will have TONS of answers and it will start an argument, but goodluck!

We are at War, because Sadam had messed up Iraq (though we all know its because of the girth of Oil there)

We are at war with terrorist groups (when we had initially gone to war against sadam, for things he didn't do, like weapons of mass destruction)

well... the simple fact is... those who are pushing the war... have no clue...

THEY NAME NO GROUPS... NO LEADERS.... NOTHING....

only call them "terrorists"...

how can you fight a war when you don't have a clue who you're fighting?

the majority of our forces are in Iraq trying to stabilize the country between to different religious groups... the sunnis and the shites... neither of which seem to have any real ties (that anyone can cite) to any terrorist organization...

Osama hit us... went to Pakistan... and then we go to Iraq?
