I know this is probally dumb but i need help

Look up at the very top. You have a toolbar and on that toolbar, probably on the right somewhere is your color palate. I don't have it right in front of me but I know it's there.

* STEP 1: Go to the Format menu and select Background.
* STEP 2: Select the color you want for the background from the color palette in the Background window. The background you selected will be applied to the page. The view you're in will shift to Online Layout view if you're not already in that view.

This is simple. Go to the Menu bar at the top of the window. Click FORMAT, move your cursor down the list to BACKGROUND. Then pick a color.
