I think thirteen going on 30 is a good one for teenage girls (like 12-14). I am 24 and I took my 13 year old cousin to see it and we both loved it. its appropriate, and teaches a good lesson.

What kind of things are you into, or what movies have you enjoyed in the past? I would say to not be afraid to rent a PG-13 movie as long as you know it has some good values in it, and it's not just made for the sake of mediocre appeal to the masses. I heard Mirrormask is a good movie, it is rated PG, and it has a female in the lead role. Also heard it has good special effects, creative storytelling, and good lessons/values involved. I definitely recommend something with good lessons/values, not just pointless entertainment.

Try Aquamarine with Emma Roberts if they havent seen it yet. Though not a girl movie, she may like Monster House for the Halloween feel
Other suggestions: Eight Below (especially if she likes dogs)
The Lake House if she likes romantic flicks.- its PG
Just My Luck with Lindsay Lohan, Last Holiday with Queen Latifah, She's the Man with Amanda Bynes. These are a few that my daghter has liked in the past few months.

ok i just gotta say this to 'cookie cutter' that S.E. Hinton was 16 yrs. old when she wrote the outsiders i hardly think that she would be in the seventh grade. as far as the movie suggestion it is a good one if you want to keep the girls occupied and yourself too considering it has patrick swayze, matt dillon, rob lowe... did i mention its like the best movie ever. 13 going on 30 is a good suggestion too. i would recommend a cinderella story becuz even tho i don't like hilary duff it was still a really good movie with a good lesson and it had chad michael murray in it.

If they've not already seen them, or even if they have, I would suggest:
My Girl
My Girl 2
Sisterhood Of The Travelin' Pants
The Outsiders (most excellent and written by s.e. hinton when SHE was in the 7th grade, for a school report!)
