I think it's different for female and male. Dimensions of the head of the femur bone, curvature of the collar bone, shape of the pubic bone, and appearance in general. I got it from this website and it even shows you a real sample. I hope it helps.

by taking a little peice of their bone useing it as dna and then they can see how old the remains are.
