It's financial services. AKA, you have to find people who have money to invest, and convince them to buy the stock, bonds and mutual funds that you recommend.

95% of the people who pass their life insurance exam are no longer in business one year later. That is pretty much the way that brokerage services work as well. To survive you have to be willing to work for very little money for 5 years, then okay money for 5 more, and then you'll start making a boatload of money. So, you need to already know people who have money who trust you to invest for them, and you need to have savings to support you for a few years.

Some places subsidize their newbies with a salary. Some places work on a draw, meaning you LOAN (repeat, LOAN) money that you pay off when you get a big sale. If you're really lucky you'll be handed some leads, but don't count on it.

Your day will be spent calling people and trying to set appointments for them to come see you. Expect to call at least 100 times a day, mostly to people you don't know. You also have meetings with people, and try to help them find a way to invest their money wisely, but the bottom line is that you must SELL stocks, bonds and mutual funds.

Make no mistake -- this is a sales job, pure and simple. Those who go in thinking that they're a "consultant" or "advisor" are gone within months. Only those who understand that this is a SALES job will survive and thrive.

I agree with the poster who says never pay for a job but disagree with not paying for obtaining a list of job leads because those are the places that usually receive their leads directly from employers who prefer not to post their information on public boards such as Monster or Career builder. I've been fortunate to be able to find decent telecommuting opportunities from a a couple of "paid" services that's basically the same as paying for a newspaper in order to read the wants ads there only these type of services target ONLY telecommuting type positions with REAL employers. Below are a few examples of some of the paid resources that I have signed up with that provide excellent telecommuting opportunities. If you can't afford to pay you can always sign with with a work from home forum that provides free informatiobn but the leads are not normally as great as with a paid service. But the best part about the services below is the fact that all their leads are already checked out to eliminate scams, so you can search without the added worry about whether or not the job is legit or not. Good Luck!
