Is that okay? I don't know if my teacher will go, "blah blah blah, you can NOT do that in your answers, blah blah blah." or if she'll just ignore it.

Well, the question was:

A metaphor is an implied comparison between two strikingly dis-similar things. Explain how Walt Whitman uses the central image in "My Picture-Gallery" as part of a metaphor.

My complete answer is:

The central picture is a place full of pictures and memories (his mind). He used a picture-gallery to describe his mind.

Is THAT okay?

You may want to elaborate on your answer a little more. It sounds like you're trying to weasel out of answering the question.
