They weren't allowed to eat sushi or whales, as an afterthought they
weren't allowed to have much in the way of military either. Just enough to protect themselves.

The right to all their territorial acquisitions from the 1930's which included the Philippines, Korea, Manchuria, Indonesia, the Soloman Islands and several other island groups in the South Pacific.
They also had to form a democratic government and although the Emperor was allowed to retain his royal status, he became a mere figurehead.
Women were granted equal status in their society so they had to give up their chauvinistic patriarchy.
They gained so much more than they had to give up though, because a free-enterprise, market economy brought both stability and prosperity.

What did they give up? As in stop doing?
Well, they gave up trying to colonise the Pacific and South East Asia for one.
They also gave up the their reverence for the emperor as a God.
He spoke to them on the radio in a whiny high pitched voice for the first time ever, and this clinched it for them. No god would have a wimpy voice like that!
They gave up their right to have armed forces, (even today they have a military, but it's called the "Self Defence Force") and adopted a pacifist constitution.
Finally, they gave up crashing air planes into things as a method of resolving disputes.
