I just purchased a front load washing machine and I noticed that when I fill the dispenser with soap, softener and bleach as indicated, the softener disappears right away although the washing cycle has not even begun. Does your machine do the same or is there something wrong with mine?

I don't own one I service them. What I have found is if you shut the dispenser drawer too fast you start the siphoning action that releases the softener & bleach! right away.so...close the drawer -- s l o w e r !

I have a Duet. I don't use softener, so I can't say exactly, but I have noticed sometimes that if I pull the dispenser "drawer" out extra far the water that has accumulated in the bleach (and softener?) sections will suddenly drain out.

Oh, and a heads up--unless they've changed the formula in the last couple years, don't get the Kirkland HE Free liquid detergent. It's *not* HE! It was probably the sudsiest detergent I've ever used, including non-HE formulas. It totally locked up my machine in the suds cycle.

I have a Frigidaire model front loader & the softener does disappear as soon as I put it in at the start of the cycle but my laundry does come out softened so it must "hold" the softener before releasing the it at the proper time.

Don't worry. It slips down into a dispenser. Later, water will run through the dispenser carrying the softener with it into the water your clothes are in.

With a front loader, remember that you need to use less soap as well.

Nope, My soap goes in, But not the softner

Samsung "Silver Care" Front loader

Looks like different models may do it according to some of the answers. And one answer is talkin about the drawer being pulled out causes it, I can pull mine out during the cycle and it still hold the softer till the rinse cycle.

I have had a front load washer for about a year... mine is a Kenmore from Sears and the softner does not dispense right away, but the bleach does. Does it clean your clothes good and not leave softner on the clothes???? That's how I would tell if it was broken.

When using a front load washer, you should be more careful in using softener or detergent on your laundry. You may also use Tide To Go sample to pretreat food or drink stains on your clothes. Visit this site http://www.upkb.com/tidetogo.php for product details and cleaning tips.

Mine did the same, but may I caution you to absolutely use the recommended detergent in the precise manner that they instruct you. Do not substitute, you will regret it! This does seriously damage the front seals and will become expensive rapidly. Otherwise they are awesome and efficient on water, power, and have the ability to clean well your clothes while being less harsh to the materials!

No mine doesn't but yours may be made differently - read your owners manual or instruction book. It should tell you if the softener empties at the beginning of the cycle or not.

Yes, my softener goes right down. I believe it is in a small holding compartment until the rinse cycle.
