I have heard fans say "Give 'em the ol peppa boy ... the ol' peppa (or pepper) referring to the pitch that the pitcher gives the batter. I have also seen signs on the fence behind home plate reading "No pepper balls".

not sure.......
pepper is a pre game exercise. i think it's where a pitcher throws the ball, then the batter bunts it to fielders 20 feet away, and the fielders try to throw it back to the batter as soon as possible. then the batter hits that ball.
(some ballparks ban pepper games because wild throws can result in injury to spectators)
