I assume you want to know all about Windows 98? Best place to head to for everything you need to know about Windows 98, formerly known as Memphis, is Wikipedia!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_98

Be warned some links have too much detailed technical information, so keep the painkillers on standby! :-P

Albert M left out Windows NT 3.x, NT 4.0, Windows 2000 (NT 5.0), and Windows Server 2003 (NT 5.2)

XP was NT 5.1. Vista will, from what I understand, be NT 6.0. Bring up your DOS/Command prompt and enter VER to see your Windows version.

I haven't tried 2003 - it is a server OS after all, but many argue that 2000 was the best of the bunch. Too bad you can't get it any more (though I believe it may be possible for businesses to purchase licences for later versions and apply them to new installations of 2000 if they have the right media.)

it is an upgrade of windows 95.... which is an upgrade of windows 3.1...... which is an update of MS-DOS. Windows 98 is an old program now, because there is Windows XP Professional, and there is now going to be WIndows Vista.
