Mekong River is longer.
The Mekong is one of the world's major rivers. It is the 10th-longest in the world, and the 10th-largest by volume. Its estimated length is 4,909 km. It drains an area of 795,000 km²:
The source of the Mekong River is in Tibet mountains and is called Dza Chu River .Its exact length, is uncertain, due to the existence of several tributaries in an inaccessible environment. In Cambodia, the river is called the Mékôngk or Tonle Thom (great river). In Vietnamese, the river as a whole is known as Mê Kông. The part flowing through Vietnam is known as Cửu Long Giang or Sông Cửu Long (nine dragons river), divided into two major branches, the Tiền Giang (Front River) and Hậu Giang (Back River).
By international geographic convention, the source of a river is the furthest source of water from the mouth of river, typically a spring or glacier. The geographic source of the Mekong River was officially recognized by the Commission for Integrated Survey of Natural Resources of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in October 1999 as being located at an altitude of 5224 meters at the foot of the glacier that discharges into Lasagongma Creek on the north side of Guosongmucha Mountain.
Known as the Rio Grande in the United States and as the Río Bravo (or, more formally, the Río Bravo del Norte) in Mexico, the river is 3,034 km long, and is the fourth longest river in the United States.
The river has, since 1845, marked the boundary between Mexico and the United States. Río Grande is Spanish for "Big River" and Río Grande del Norte means "Great Northern River" (literally "Great River of the North"). The Rio Grande was designated as one of the American Heritage Rivers in 1997♥
