In which context are you asking:

1. Real world use, in parking - If a company 'validates', it means they stamp your parking stub so that the company pays for your parking instead of you.

2. You can 'validate' someone. For example, someone expresses a feeling to you and you tell them it is OK to feel that way, you have validated their feelings. Or, a teacher works for years and feels unappreciated, then one day a student returns and tells the teacher how her life was changed as a result of that teacher, and the teacher now feels validated, that everything she has done is worthwhile because it brought a positive result. Or, a researcher proposes a cure for cancer and proceeds to test it on various controlled groups with positive results, the researcher's work is validated, it works and is worthwhile.

It depends on the sentence it is used in. If I'm afraid of bees, and you tell me that it's okay because I'm allergic to them and I should be afraid, that is validating. In short, you are giving merit to what someone has told you, that it is important and worthwhile.
