Definitely not the national anthem. Once again, if you want to sing something from Grease I suggest singing a solo. "There are Worse Things I can do" is a good song for an audition. I suggest going on www.stageagent.com, look at shows similar to Bye Bye Birdie and pick a song. Also, pick a song you know well and can keep stage prescence.

I agree with Steven - do not sing something from Bye Bye Birdie as was earlier suggested. The national anthem has been sung by so many people in so many ways that it is probably not the best choice. Is there another song - a solo - from Grease you are familiar with? You could make We Go Together work, just have lots of energy and have fun with it! That is what the director wants to see - what you can do, not so much the song you sing.

With no real offense meant,,, The "Director" is most interested in your "range" and "stage presence" not your choice of song.
To sing something from the show is NOT a promise of making "points" with anyone, unless specifically asked to do so.
The National Anthem, while a great choice in some regard, is not likely to be very popular as a show audition selection.
Bye Bye is a fun piece of work,,, much as Grease was/is. The thought I'd be having is,,, Performing something light hearted, but not overly animated or comical.
Consider American Idol auditioners who didn't get any call back.
Dress appropriately, be cordial but humble, and go with what you know, and do well at.
If you get a call back, you may be asked to do a number from the show.

We Go Together requires more than one person, doesn't it? I'd think it would sound funny as a solo piece. Just my opinion though. The National Anthem might be ok because it's really hard. But what's wrong with singing something from Bye Bye Birdie?

No sing something from Bye Birdie. That way the director will know you took the trouble of learning one of the songs' Score one point in your favor. Besides auditioning with a song from a different musical would make it appear you would like a different show. Directors select what shows they like, so act positive about Bye Birdie. Personaly I like Grease More than Bye Birdie.

I don't think so. As BKS said, there has to be at least 2 people. the national anthem would be good though. Especially if your soprano. And if you don't know what soprano is....find out
