You might be one of the lucky little ladies that is regular....but most likely, not...When you first start having periods, they are usually irregular for a while. When I had my first one, I was sixteen & mine stayed pretty regular. Now my daughter, on the other hand, had her first one at 11. She is now 13 & she STILL has irregular periods. I know she's not doing anything she shouldn't be because I'm the type of mom who talks to her about EVERYTHING and she talks to me about EVERYTHING. We have a good relationship...we're really tight. Her periods are just irregular. Yours might be too....but don't freak out. it's perfectly normal Miss Lady...Hope I eased your mind some...

When you first have your period, it will be different. It may be a day or two. As you go along, your body will establish a normal cycle for you. Don't worry. Some people's cycle last 3 days, some last 7. Mine was never on a 28 day cycle like most. It is usually around there. I always new mine would be in 2 weeks when my chest and armpits would become sore. Each persons body will tell them when. I never had cramping like most women. I went on the pill so I would be regulated now that I am much older. As you both grow, your bodies will regulate. It is normal to have those issues at first. It is important to go to the Gynecologist every year to get a pap smear as part of your annual exam. If there are any changes, you can let your doctor know then.

For the first two years of mensus (getting your period) a female's cycle can be very irregular until all the hormones balance out. It's a normal part of growing up. Also, even though an average cycle is 28 days, the norm is anything from 24 to 40 days.

There are some good websites about menstrual health for teens. You and your mother might want to visit some together to learn more about being a healthy young woman.

Oh honey, welcome to the unpredictable world of womanhood. Some women have regulary periods that begin every 21-28 days. Others have irregular periods meaning, always have protection with you because you never know when you're going to get it. Until you find out what kind of cycle you will be having, keep track on a calendar marking the first day of your period and then noting what day it stops. After several months you should see a pattern.

Yes, it's normal. It'll take a few months before you actually see it start to show up regularly. Everyone is different. Some girls get a regular period, others don't. It can also vary anywhere from 21 days to 32 days. So don't panic. If you're concerned talk to your mother or ask to see you family doctor. Good luck.

When a girl first gets her period anything can happen. You might not have another one for months, or you might have another one next month, just like is supposed to happen. It takes a while for your body to get regulated, so don't be suprised by whatever happens. But be prepared. Always carry a pad or tampon with you. Just in case.

Some women take years or never even become regular. It can be normal for them. Go to a gynecologist just to be safe. You must go annually now. But I'm sure it's nothing to worry about.

Irregular periods are completely normal for the first year or so that you have them. You will regulate as you age.

Several factors can make your period late. I had my first period at age 12 and it has never really been on time. Stress can make your period irregular. I wouldn't worry about it. Not everyone is regular.
