persuasive speech?

i am taking speech in college and i have to do a persuasiuve speech on that same persuasive speech assignment i also have to write a research paper for extra credit i need some good topic ideas to do the speech and research paper on please help

I recommend that you chose a topic you are familiar with. If you don't mind being controversial try something political. The Iraq war, the Foley scandal, the Bush administration, gay marriage, local political campaigns, or local issues. If you want to steer clear of of controversy you can look into topics such as persuading people to use a certain food product, herbal supplement, attending a sporting event, etc. You could also do informational issues such as doing breast exams (or other annual check-ups), not drinking and driving, abstaining from alcohol during pregnancy, wearing a seat belt. When I was taking my BCMU course the professor said the best way to make a persuasive speech was to have it laid it in this format:

Problem/Solution.
Problem/Solution.

That is how I have done it and has worked fine for me.
