It's based on the Golf / Jetta chassis. I don't drive nice. My car goes 80-85 on the highway, and I love to drive "enthusiastically". I get 29 mpg with my '98 Jetta that has the 2.0 4-cyl motor in it.

I suspect that you'll get a little less with 6 cyl. Your mileage will vary depending on your driving habits too.

My 2000 camry gets about 25 to 30 mpg.

Straight from Autotrader.com your 2003 VW Beetle GLX 1.8T will get 28 hwy & 22 city. Also depends if you gotta heavy foot...yadddaaddaa meeeaann.
