Because he supported the war and stands behind the President on security issues. Other than war issues, he's as liberal as you can get.

Lieberman was a big supporter of the war in Iraq and of President Bush. Most people do NOT support the war, especially the democrat's. Lieberman is viewed as a moderate if not a Republican. He supported a war and a President that most citizen's do not support. The President's approval rating is nearly at record lows. Lieberman seem to have forgotten that he works for the people.

Joe Lieberman personally traveled to Iraq to assess the situation first hand. When he returned, he spoke of all the positive things the U.S. troops were doing in Iraq and he was optimistic about our objectives in Iraq.
This, obviously, judging from the primary voting, is not what the Democrats wanted to hear.
It is just another indicator, in my opinion, of the Democrats' reluctance to fight the Islamic radicals.

Because Lieb is not liberal enough for the dems.
Also, he was too chummy with the current president and the dems want to be seen as divisive to the current admin.

HE RAN FOR THE DEMOCRATIC NOMINATION AND LOST TO ANOTHER PERSON THEN HE RAN AS AN INDENPENDENT. WHEN YOU VOTE IN A PRIMARY THEY MAKE YOU SWEAR AN OATH THAT YOU WILL SUPORT THE NOMINEE AND THAT IS WHY THE DEMOCRATS SUPORTED THE OTHER PERSON. THAT SHOULD BE FAIR ENOUGH FOR YOU TO TAKE TO THE TEACHER. IF SHE DOES NOT LIKE THIS TELL HER I SAID SHEIS A RADICAL.
