Which is more important in a movie- good acting, good story, or good direction. Is it better for a movie to be entertaining and fun or have a message.

To have a good movie, you need it all. A good easy to follow plot, along with a good message that's entertaining. That makes a good movie.

Well as a screen writer I would like to say that it starts with an exceptional script. But, that is not always the case. Screenplay, directing, acting and editing are the four key areas of equal importance in any film. Any which can save, make or break the best of intentions. When I review a movie, I try to rate on those four or four stars. Because, I hate to totally trash a film for one bad aspect. Some 2 or 3 star movies can be quite entertaining at times. I suppose I probably get more upset by poor editing than anything else. What a stupid way to ruin a great movie by shortening it to fit some idiot producers 90 minute plan. Sorry, I do tend to run on.

Besides winning the OSCAR ( self promotion )
...
A good movie has to have a good story, while directing the pace in which actors bring it to life.
...
To make it great it has to stand the test of time, where you can watch it over the years and still get something new out of it.
...
A lot of people will agree on a great movie, but on different parts as to the best for each individual.

If the writing in a movie good, I will most likely be entertained. Since I don't look to Hollywood to orient my moral compass, I want it to be entertaining.
