Approximately $108.21. Here's how to figure it out. If the distance is 840 miles, divide that by the MPG your car gets. So that is:

840 / 17 = approx. 49.412. Thats the number of gallons you will need to drive 840 miles at 17 miles per gallon. Now just multiply thata by the cost of gas per gallon, and you have your answer. So the equation will look like this:

(840 / 17) x 2.19 = 108.21176471, or, rounded off, 108.211

$108.21

divide 840 by 17 to find out how many gallons of gas you will need
840/17=49.41

then multiply 49.41 X 2.19 to figure out cost = $108.21

easy here: its 840 miles, and you get 17 miles to 1 gallon, so 17 divides into 840 which is 840/17 equals 49.41 so say about 50 gallons of fuel, if fuel is average 2.19 50x2.19 is 109.50 or about 110 dollars

$108.22

If the car gets 17 Miles per Gallon, and you're going 840 miles then: 840/17=49.411 gallons you'll be using. 49.411 Gallons times 2.19 per gallon = $108.211, and round up the penny to be safe.

Well, if you divide 840 by 17 there's your gallons. Now multiply by price, there's your cost.

Problem is the answer will be wrong, and different every time you make the trip! What will the traffic be like? How much weight are you carrying? Windows open or closed? What kind of weather will you encounter? What speed do you drive at? How much air is in your tires? You'd be surprised at how much effect each of these can have!
