Cork is obtained mainly from the bark of the Oak tree and has a Density of 240kg/m³. This represents a Specific Gravity of 0.240. Water has a Density of 1,000kg/m³. A Specific Gravity of 1.0. Cork therefore, has a much lower Density than water and will float on water. Perhaps the extra clever thumbs downer will enlighten us ignorant lot, and explain the correct answer !???

Because its got tiny little air spaces in there that keep it floating. Cork is not very dense, either

Two reasons. First, the cellulose that its cell walls are made of is less dense than water. Secondly, there is nothing inside its cell walls but air.
