A friend wants to get connected using my wireless router but need a password. But it's asking something about bits or something. Does anyone know what it means?

I had your same problem. it is not easy to shape router and you council to call a technician so as to to understand of its operation.

The "bits or something", refers to the length of the password...
But if they're connecting to an existing router with security already set, you can get this information from the network admininstrator who controls the router.

If this is you, you'll know how you configured the router, when you installed it...

Um, who set up the router? If you don't know how to get your friend connected, then I don't see how you got your router working on your own.
Your friend should run the wireless connection wizard to set up a connection with your router.
In order to access your router, your friend must know the passkey, and other wireless network related settings like the security type.
The person who set up your router should be the one to set up your friend's computer.

thats actually WEP key, thats the password for the wireless connection ..thats depends on what kind of router youre using for the wireless connection ...for mine..im using 2wire..i can find it under the router ...

First of all your friend has to be close enough to recieve your wireless signal.
What you are probably taking about is a paraphrase. It is a word which is your password which is encrypted for your network protection. If you give the password, entering it will generate a paraphrase which will unlock access to your wireless network.
