Because there is not a single poll ANYWHERE that shows them losing seats. On the contrary, even Republicans have admitted that Democrats will gain seats, it is just a matter of whether they will win enough to gain a majority. If you want to look before 1994, Republicans had only led the Senate for 1981-1987 for the entire period of 1955-1994! That was the longest stretch the Republicans had held the senate since the 1920s! That is a pattern. In the house the Repubs hadn't been in power since ohhhh 1955. Again, that is a pattern. This recent change? An anomaly

Because the republicans have not been able to deliver on any of the promises they made in 1994, 1996, 1998, 2000, 2002, 2004. A balanced budget, what they promised the religious right, containing spending, a tax structure that doesn't cause an undo burden on the middle class. etc. etc. etc. Time for a change, and a new pattern.

Where do you get your info from?
In 1996, Clinton won and the Republicans lost seats.
In 1998, The Republicans lost a ton of seats. A gentleman by the name of Newt. W. Gingrich, Speaker of the House, was forced to step down.
I agree with you 02 & 04 were bad for us. I'll give you that. But 06 is a whole different story.
Poll after poll shows very low satisfaction with the Republican Congress, lower than it was for the Democratic Congress in 94, when Gingrich & Co. took over. The country now is on the wrong course.
It's time to go buddy. American Wants & Needs Change.

The reason they think they are going to win is because all of the polls are pointing in that direction. I think this is misleading because national polls supporting democrats don't necessarily translate into local votes. I agree that they will probably lose seats. I'm more liberal than conservative, so I tend to vote democrat more than republican, but I hope the democrats lose this election. I think they need to give the republicans a few more years to finish digging their own grave. Then they can sweep the elections in 2008! Two more years of republican control should be all the convincing people need that things need to change. I don't think people are convinced yet.

The Democrats are not going to beat the Republicans this time, The Republicans have already beat themselves. Look at the last eight years they have had control of Congress. Corruption, Lies, Sex scandals, and I think the American public can see right thru the attack ad campaigns. Anyways I know a lot of Republicans who are pulling the straight Dem ticket. Look at how long you have up there. I like most Americans feel that our Country is in a world of $hittt if you know what I mean. There is no accountability with this Congress we now have.

Who cares? Win or lose you don't know until the election. There are polls that you can't do anything but trust or ignore, and that's it. Why the debate about this crap? It so doesn't matter. Democrats made HUGE mistakes over the past 10 years and lost a lot of seats because of it including the presidency. This whole thing is so stupid, all of the idiotic attacking commercials discussing not what that candidate does, but what their opponent does wrong. Oh well, that's our world I guess.

Yes, but now we have additional evidence regarding the lack of ethics, morals, honor, intelligence, and patriotism of Georgie Bush -- the single worst President in history.

You have something to say about an issue or just this team spirit crap? Liberal does not equal Democrat, just as Conservative does not mean you are a Republican (ask some of the libertarians out there).
You people are so ridiculous. You'd vote against your own mothers' if Rush Limbaugh told you the "liberals" were supporting her.

And from 1952 to 1994.....we won the House of Reps every single time. Humm. Oh, but we did lose the Senate for two years in the 80's, before we got it back.
We will return to power November 7th. Every polls says we are gonna win.
