I no longer have a rat problem in my home thanks to my chihuahua's. Or you can rescue a cat from the humane society. Poison only kills the rat, the you have dead rats under your home or inside your walls. This will start to smell after a while. You should be worried about disease. You can also call your local VECTOR control, listed in the government pages of your local phone book. They may be able to provide you with alternative methods. Good Luck.

It takes alot for rats to come into your house. There must be something that's draw them in. Also there are rats that are resistent to certain poisons. It's important that you put the part where the bait is in the path of where they normally move (saw that on Dirty Jobs). Look for their poop trail which is normally along walls and place them so if they run across it they will get snapped. That's way nasty, bummer.

I hate rats!!! I have horses and they came in my barn really bad about a month ago, when the weather started getting colder, and I got some cats and it has really helped. I did put out poison also but it was out in the barn and I did not really worry about the smell when the died, but I am sure they would be stinking in the house. Hope you get rid of them!!!!

Get a BB-Gun and shoot them, then throw them out. They are nasty pee and poop everywhere. Clean all your cabinets, drawers, etc. Or you can pay the high dollar rip off exterminators to take care of the problem

Just get some rat poison and put it out. I would place it outside around the house too.

Rats & cockroaches are damn resiliant! I'd definately get a cat if you don't have one already. Just the knowledge of a predator in the house will scare them away.(or a dog...some are bred just for this job) Where do you live? haha

You need to get an exterminator immediately. How can you continue to live there? I hope you don't have children. Good luck.
