Contrary to your first answer, which rather fails to grasp the basic concept of what a scientific theory is...

The big bang was originally proposed as an explanation of the observed fact that all stars and galaxies in the universe are receding from one another (this can be see via the red shift of their light) and the existence of the cosmic background microwave radiation (this can be seen with any microwave telescope and is more or less uniform across the sky).

The first observation clearly implies the universe is getting bigger and - conversely - was smaller once. The second is most readily explained by some very high temperature event very long ago that has left a remnant of energy bouncing around the universe. Its uniformity suggests that it must have happened very early in the life of the universe, when it was small - otherwise it would come from a definite direction.

A theory is just that, a possible explanation, NOT evidence!
