That is a peculiar query but maybe, however i hope there is not a destruction of anything or anyone. The fall of a religion could come because we find out that man has altered the bible from what was written to suit himself and that might happen right here and now anytime. If you watch the movie Contact with Jodie Foster and Mathew McCanahay, she was an atheist and he was a baptist theological minister. They differed but had one common denominator they both were in love and in search for the truth about God and for survival of mankind. If we were to encounter anyone or anything out there would you believe them if they told you they were God? I wouldn't that is like the Star Trek Movie when they went in search of God and found some Demonic character. May be religion is to follow as a practice to God and God is to honor and not to be touched for maybe he forms all energy as pure. Beings may be just his creations and he is just too supreme to reduce to a race creed or color, after all he said he sent his Only Begotten Son.

No I do not think that it would result in the destruction of the religious beliefs, it might even re enforce them.
However,,, should we discover amore advance civilization the result most likely would be the end of our world as we know it. this of course is coming only from our worlds perspective, but it has proven that the more advanced civilization will conquer that which is less advanced.

I guess that depemds on whether or not that advanced civilization has religious beliefs or not, or maybe they have very similiar beliefs to the religions we have here on Earth. Just because they are advanced doesn't mean that they must live without some sort of faith structure.

By the time we get to that point religion will be just a quaint superstition practiced by the uneducated of the world. There is a reason that the more educated you are the less religious you become.
You will find a majority of the people in the upper levels of scientific research are nonbelievers. And it is science that will take us to the stars, not the church.

Religions, like any virus, adapt to their environment. I guarantee that finding a more advanced civilization will be shoehorned into the dogma of every mainstream faith if that time ever comes. What would be their alternative? Abandon their source of income? No way...do you know how much money is put into the offering plate every year?

First off.
There is no evidence of other civlizations outside of our own, and really, I don't think they are out there. Mainly, because I think the Earth is a fluke.
If for some reason, we did find "aliens", or aliens found us, I think it would change a lot of people's belief systems. However, those secure in their beliefs, would probably adapt to the new system just as they have to evolution.
I'm sure many arabs and christians would try to convert the long green lifeforms to the teachings of Muhammad and Jesus. :-)
Then, then would probably eat the Quran and bible before rocking out to Chuck Berry's "My Dingaling".

No.
The zealots will continue to embrace their faith with greater fervour than before, religious beliefs will thus remain.

No. I think religions would adapt and actually use the discovery as evidence that their religion is correct.
