It depends on what you're aiming to do. If it's the host of a teens pop section, then probably not. If it's a host of a current affairs or business news or such like, then age is probably a slight advantage. Look at the local TV channels and to see who's doing what. It would also pay to have some sort of credentials or acting background as well.
