Since the Yahoo! Answers Team deemed it necessary to remove my question because of profanity, I am asking this question again.

It seems as though every sport I've seen, after a good play some guy smacks another guy on the butt, why is that?

it means good job. nothing gay about it, it's not like we are grabbing it. its a quick sign for a job well done. just like a hit of the hand on a helmet. women athletes do it as well. so it is not just men.You have to be in a sport to understand. to understand the bond of being on a team.

I did not see your first question but this one seems quite appropriate and unobjectionable .....
Unfortunately...
You have an interesting question and I have no idea as to the origin of this custom....
I can certainly understand why men would want to smack female athletes on the butt after a good play but that is logical and the male on male smacking is not logical...
Your question is interesting enough that I will follow it and see what others say....Good question....Thanks for hanging in there after your bad experience with your first question...

i spotted that recently, that's a sparkling component and that i don't be attentive to the place they have been given it yet years in the past you will possibly of have been given a smack interior the mouth for it! it extremely is in all male activities and it extremely is somewhat too consumer-friendly i think of! It was once a pat on the back no longer the butt!

A way of saying "good job". I have no idea where it came from but it's certainly not because they are gay. Only idiots assume that. If your not an athlete I guess you'll never get it.

I can only hazard a guess, I suspect it is part of some male bonding ritual. We women will never be privy to it's mysteries, and so we should just try to ignore it. Yes, I think it's a bit strange myself.

A sign of affirmation either for a good job, or consolation when things are not going well.
