One of my close friends is a lesbian - not that I care at all. I am straight and if I meet a guy all she does is tell me how I have such bad taste in men, is rude to them (if she meets them properly), and tells me how disgusting men are. This annoys me as she is supposed to be my friend. If I am happy with a guy, shouldn't she accept that ? Or am I overreacting?

The only thing that would matter is if YOU accepted that man. It's your life, she obviously has a problem with men and I wouldn't listen to her. I'm gay and have been with my partner for 14 years and to tell you the truth men (straight and gay) have always been my best friends....if you think the guy is worth getting to know, they you get to know them and if she doesn't like it.....it's her problem hun...

No, you're not overreacting. She needs to be more respectful of you and your relationships. Your relationships and your taste for men are a part of you. The only time she needs to step in is if you're being abused, and I don't see that.

Though I am going to bring up a possibility--do you think she may have a crush on you? My wife and I have both had male friends do this to us--we say it's a good thing we found each other, 'cause no man would have been good enough for our "brothers". It doesn't excuse her by any means, but may account for things.

No you are not over reacting, a true loving friend would be more supportive to what you want and who you are.
I tend to suspect like so many of the others that there is an another motive here and perhaps she is just trying to alienate you from men in hopes of "converting" you over.
I would speak to her about this and tell her how her reactions and response to who you are dating is starting to wear on you.
Speak to her honestly, if she is a true friend and happy to see you happy then she will understand.
If not then perhaps she really is not your true friend.
Many people have their own agendas and she may have hers.

(Dammit - every time I can think of a sensible answer, Spyder's always said it first!)
What he said, AND I'm always happy when my friends are happy. Even the one I am still in love with. So it doesn't matter whether she's gay or not, and if she has secret feelings for you - if she's your real friend she should want you to be happy. If you've got a good guy, she should support you (but if he's not, she is being a good friend in warning you, even though it's hard to see sometimes at the time).

It sounds almost as though she is trying to drive the guys away from you. To keep you for herself. Not necessarily in a sexual way but in a way to avoid loosing you as a friend.

You should talk to her about why she does this. And politely ask her what kind of guy she thinks you should go for. There is a small chance she is right, you might have a bad taste for men. Maybe she will help you find the guy that is right for you.

why do want only lesbians to answer? this sounds like a friendship question to me. i do not think you are overreacting. A friend should be supportive and not trying to undermine your romantic relationships. tell her how you feel and if she still continues to act this way then i say end the friendship.

Does she have a crush on you? Sounds like jealousy. Have a frank talk with her, tell her you are straight and you are not attracted to her on anything but a friend level.

Don't be surprised if your friend moves on.

She would not accept it cuz she is lez and you are probaly a pretty young lady and she might like you. She wants you all to herself and is tryin to convince that guys are nasty and is rude to them cuz she likes of you of course. And she wants to be more than friends. You r not overreacting either talk to her and if it continues end your friendship with each other
